Downtown Luray has Eateries for Every ‘Taste’

Visitors come to Luray for many reasons – but no matter what brings them, they eventually get hungry. Fortunately, nine restaurants (and one ice cream shop) are located within the historic district. Two of these were named Cooperative Living Magazine Readers’ Choice award winners.

  • Gathering Grounds Patisserie & Cafe, located at 55 East Main Street. Enjoy casual dining in a nostalgic setting reflecting the days when our cafe was a hardware store.
  • Virginia’s Best Burger’ is found at Artisans Grill, 2 East Main Street, on the corner of Main and Broad. This local favorite also offers flame-broiled beef, chicken and game as well as piled-high sandwiches, fresh organic produce and beer, wine and spirits. Reservations are made by calling 540-743-7030.
  • Domino’s Pizza, located at 9 Campbell Street, specializes in pizza, Buffalo wings and bread sides. Delivery or carryout is available. To order, call 540-743-4586 or order online at www.dominos.com.
  • Main Street Bakery serves freshly-baked breads, pies, cakes and pastries and has full-service gourmet catering, including the Football Mania Menu. (Order no later than Wednesday prior to game day.) Lunch is also served at Luray’s only Green-Certified restaurant. Call Chef Charles Arnaud at 540-743-6909.
  • The Mimslyn Inn, a sumptuous resort at 401 West Main Street, features two eateries – the casual Speakeasy downstairs and the more formal Circa ’31 upstairs. The Speakeasy boasts an Art-Deco decor, fresh and interesting comfort food, nightly specials and weekly live music. Circa ’31 serves contemporary Southern cuisine and a fantastic weekday lunch buffet. To reserve a table at either location, call 540-743-5105.
  • Uncle Buck’s, winner of ‘Best Breakfast Deal,’ is located at 42 East Main Street, serves Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner Daily. Uncle Buck’s is known for their reasonable prices and varied menu. They also have cocktails, beer and wine. The number is 540-743-2323.
  • The Victorian Inn is a Victorian home offering dinner Thurday - Sat. Their wine bar is open daily. Call:540-743-1494.
  • West Main Market is Luray’s full-service deli, featuring a terrific selection of beer & wine, salads by the pound, gourmet sandwiches and soups as well as party platters and catering. Owner Bill Isenberg has created a unique and welcoming retreat. Call 540-743-1125 for hours.
  • Sugar Shack – the wildly popular ‘Ice Cream of the Future’ – is located at 40 East Main Street. Their phone number is 540-743-4777.

So,when it comes to food, Downtown Luray has something for every taste, every budget and every time of day! Plan to visit one of these local eateries after hiking, biking or shopping.
